Wow Guests With Starfish Rehearsal Dinner Invites

Share This:

The starfish couple is prominent on beach wedding paper. From save-the-date cards and invitations, to gift bags and favors, two starfish holding hands, or dancing on the shore, seem to be an image couples can’t resist.

The rehearsal dinner is sometimes as big an event as the wedding itself, or almost. Families gather, maybe for the first time, to celebrate with the bride and groom the night before the ceremony.

Although a line of RSVP text can be added to these invitations, some people prefer to include mailable reply cards. In that case, we have a whole collection of affordable, decorated and plain, RSVP cards. Some have menu list options, and some do not. All have paper selections to match the invitation paper you choose, and they come with white envelopes.

The Reception Wording Depends on Your Plans

Enclosure For Wedding Invitation

Once the formality and seriousness of the wedding ceremony is done, a reception comes next – right? Not so fast. Typically we think of the wedding and reception happening all at once, but sometimes there is a delay between the two. It may be an hour or a month in between. Destination weddings are often times small with only close family and friends attending. A big celebration can happen anytime after the honeymoon.
Likewise, if photos are taken between the ceremony and reception, the reception may be delayed. There are a number of reasons that could delay the reception according to what the newlyweds choose to do. You will have to inform guests early on as to what is expected on wedding day.

  • Receptions after the ceremony, at the same place as the ceremony can be mentioned at the bottom of the wedding invitation. Most couple’s use the text “reception to follow” or similar.
  • A reception that will take place directly after the wedding, but at another location needs an invitation card enclosure with the name and address and maybe directions too.
  • Setting up a free, wedding website may be right for you, so enclose a card pointing guests to the URL.
  • If the reception will be held after the honeymoon the reception invitation will be more like a party invitation.

Now for some examples.

Alternative Ideas For Responding to A Wedding Invitation

Small, wedding reply enclosure cards – no mailing needed.

Traditionally a mailable reply card will be included with a wedding invitation for guests to fill in with their name or names and select whether or not they will attend the wedding. The RSVP can be worded in a variety of ways depending on how much information the bride and groom need to get the day organized.  Most couples want to get an exact count and discourage invitees from bringing “friends”.

It’s easy to set up a free wedding website and have guests log on and reply. The downside to that is the fact that many older people may not use a computer, so having an alternative way to reply – such as a phone number – is a good idea.

The small card shown, with spaces for phone numbers and website address, come in packs of 100.   It is from our new design in light blue called, “Starfish Passion“.  They will save you the trouble of buying return postage and stuffing envelopes with reply cards and they will be cheaper to include for large weddings.

Of course we have mailable reply cards also to match any of our wedding stationery sets.
If you’d like guests to include a meal selection with their reply, simply add the menu list on our meal selection reply cards.
